Covid Tier 4
Norfolk Scouts are still in RED, meaning that there must be no face-to-face Scouting for the moment. We will get up to speed again just as soon as the restrictions are relaxed a little.
The 8th Norwich Sea Scout Group includes two Cub packs, two Sea Scout Troops and, under a partnership arrangement with Eastern Norwich Scout District, the Octavi Explorer Scout Unit. The Group is sponsored by Norwich School, and membership is primarily for members of the school although siblings of members may be able to join, and occasionally a few others. In most respects the Group operates independently of the School but there is a strong synergy between the two establishments.
The Group headquarters is on the River Wensum in Norwich, with a slipway and pontoons, and a playing field.
The general programme is focused on the normal Scout Programme, enhanced by many water activities, most notably sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, rowing and powerboating. Boating regularly takes place on other parts of the Norfolk Broads, on various tidal waters around the UK, and on more challenging waters for paddle sports.
The Group is one of 101 recognised by the Royal Navy, and an RYA training centre for sailing, powerboating and windsurfing.
